The United States Air Force deployed B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers to the Middle East. This was reported on the website of the Central Command of the United States Armed Forces (CENTCOM).

“The B-52H Stratofortress crews from the fifth squadron, stationed at the Maino Air Force Base in North Dakota, quickly flew to the Middle East on November 21 in order to contain aggression and confirm the support of US partners and allies,” the agency quotes the text of the statement TASS.

The purpose of a non-stop flight is to demonstrate the ability of the US Air Force to quickly transfer forces and include them in the course of any military operations. During the flight, the bombers were accompanied by tanker aircraft.

This year, in the spring, the United States also began sending aircraft carriers and bombers to the Middle East, RBC recalls. The Pentagon attributed its decision to a potential threat from Iran.
