During his visit to Brussels, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with his European counterparts – the foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy and Great Britain. According to the press service of the State Department, the heads of the foreign ministries discussed the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border and called on Moscow to “reduce tension” in relations with Kiev.
The State Department said in a statement that the participants in the meeting in the Belgian capital “reaffirmed their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and highly appreciated Ukraine's restraint in the face of Russian provocations.” We are talking about the planned exercises of our army on its own territory.
“They stressed the need for Russia to immediately reduce tensions in the situation with Ukraine,” the text of the statement of the American State Department TASS was quoted as saying.
It is noted that Blinken and his colleagues also discussed other “common priorities”, including Afghanistan, Iran and Yemen.
We will remind, as the website kp.ru wrote, earlier about the same statement were made by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Joe Biden. Meanwhile, the Kremlin called the escalation of the situation in Donbass unprecedented. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted that the resumption of the civil war in Ukraine could become a threat to our country, and called on the Ukrainian army to abandon provocative actions.
