The US is ready to negotiate security guarantees with Russia in early January 2022 through multiple channels. This was stated by a high-ranking representative of the American administration, he was quoted by RIA Novosti.
Washington noted that the exact date and time of the talks has not yet been determined. A White House spokesman revealed the condition under which progress is possible in diplomatic cooperation on this issue. According to him, the negotiations will be successful only if the situation around Ukraine is de-escalated.
The US official stressed that talks with Moscow will also include US concerns about Russia's steps and actions.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western countries should immediately give Moscow security guarantees. According to him, the further development of the situation in the international arena will depend on this. The state leader said that the negotiations should take place at the very beginning of the new year in Geneva.
