The RC-135V Rivet Joint reconnaissance aircraft of the United States Air Force has created a dangerous situation over the Black Sea. This was announced on Thursday, December 30, by the Military Observer Telegram channel, citing data from the Flightradar 24 portal.
As the channel notes, the American RC-135V, performing a reconnaissance flight without contact with dispatchers, approached the Boeing 737 passenger airliner of the Belarusian airline Belavia, which was flying from Minsk to Tel Aviv. It is clarified that the difference in height between the two aircraft at some point was only 1.3 thousand meters.
Earlier in December, the Russian Foreign Ministry already complained about provocative and dangerous actions by the US reconnaissance aircraft in the Black Sea region. In particular, on December 3, the RC-135V crossed the trajectory of the Russian aircraft, and the CL-600 reconnaissance aircraft crossed the trajectory of the Maltese airline liner flying from Sochi to Skopje. Similar cases were recorded in October.
In early December, it was also reported that Russian airspace control systems detected an American RC-135 reconnaissance and target designation aircraft CL-600 “Artemis” approaching the country's borders. To accompany them, Russian Su-27 and Su-30 fighters were raised.
