US recommends suspending use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended suspending coronavirus vaccination with a drug from Johnson & Johnson, the two agencies said in a joint statement.

The decision was made after six patients who were injected with the vaccine developed blood clots. They occurred in women between the ages of 18 and 48, and symptoms appeared 6-13 days after vaccination.

As of April 12, about 6.8 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in the United States, according to the FDA.
