Washington has recognized the political movement BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, “Boycott, isolation and sanctions”), opposing illegal actions of Israel, anti-Semitic. This was told by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, quoted by The Times of Israel.
“Today I want to make a statement regarding the State Department's decision to declare BDS anti-Semitic. We join countries that see it as the cancer it is, ”said Pompeo.
Members of the movement are in favor of stopping Israel, which occupies various territories, including the Palestinian one. BDS criticizes the state for violating international law. In 2019, Germany recognized the movement as anti-Semitic: this happened despite the fact that the movement's protests were peaceful.
The conflict between Palestine and Israel has been going on since 1948. The parties claim ownership and sovereignty over the same territory of the former British Mandate of Palestine. In addition, Israel is trying to annex the territories of the West Bank: Israeli settlements have been built there. The UN Security Council considers these territories to be occupied, and Israel is disputable.
