He called on the government and the opposition to negotiate an end to the political crisis.
US President Joe Biden commented on the parliamentary elections of Georgia held the day before and called for “restoring their integrity”.
This is stated in a message on the White House website.
The message indicates that Biden is concerned that the Georgian authorities are moving away from the principles of democracy, in particular, by adopting laws copying Russian legislation to restrict rights and freedoms citizens.
“The parliamentary elections in Georgia on October 26 were marred by numerous recorded cases of abuse of administrative resources, as well as intimidation and coercion of voters,” he noted.
The US President called for a transparent investigation of all violations, the repeal of laws restricting freedom of assembly and expression, as well as the start of negotiations with all political forces to resume the electoral process.
“We call on all parties to strictly observe the rule of rights and fundamental freedoms, which are the basis of Georgia's Euro-Atlantic future,” the American leader concluded.
Recall that it was previously reported that President Georgia declared total falsification during parliamentary elections.
In addition, we previously reported that the diplomat explained where Georgia will now drift.
