Beijing must stop supporting Russian aggression against Ukraine.
The United States is preparing new sanctions against Chinese companies that are helping Russia wage war against Ukraine, in particular, may be targeted banks.
This was stated by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado, reports Bloomberg.
He noted that Beijing should stop its support for Russian aggression against Ukraine.
“It goes far beyond the bounds of decent behavior by nation states. We can expect additional sanctions as we watch how this unfolds in the coming weeks,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan recalled that. At the end of last year, Joe Biden signed an executive order authorizing the US Treasury Department to pursue banks that provide assistance to the Russian defense industry.
“I can't make a prediction today, but I will say that over time, we have created tools that will allow us to respond to this kind of behavior. And we will respond to this kind of behavior,” the president added.
The US says that China is not yet providing direct lethal support to Russia, but NATO leaders at a summit a week ago called China “a decisive factor in facilitating” the continuation of Russia's war in Ukraine.
Recall that it was previously reported that US State Department spokesman James O'Brien said that Ukraine has every chance of continuing to successfully fight against Russian aggression even after 2025, if necessary.
In addition, we previously reported that in Britain they called China, Russia and North Korea “mortal” threats.
