The United States is preparing for a potential war with China in the Pacific, so it has been awarded a contract to develop a Blended Wing Body aircraft prototype, which is being optimized for features.

It is noted that this aircraft promises greater fuel economy, large payloads and the ability to use shorter runways, as the US Air Force considers “vital to success in the war in the Pacific.”
According to a US official, aircraft optimization will be needed to win the war with China in the Pacific.
“We are fighting for technological advantage with what we call a fast challenge, a formidable adversary” , said Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall, the service's top civilian official, referring to China.
According to the BBC, this design combines wings and fuselage, reducing aerodynamic drag by at least 30% and providing additional lift.
“This increased efficiency will provide extended range, longer idle times and improved payload delivery efficiency, which is vital to mitigating logistical risks,” notes the BBC.
“Energy consumption will be a margin for winning competitive competition, especially in the Pacific. So we need to focus on this – on endurance, range, speed,” added Choudhary, whose office oversees the project.
And Maj. Gen. Albert Miller, director of Air Mobility Strategy, Plans, Requirements and Programs, notes that the biggest challenge in the Indo-Pacific “is logistical support, as this adversary can challenge us from a distance.”
Recall that the United States called on China to stop pressure on Taiwan and start a dialogue with the island.
