US postpones TikTok ban

by alex

The US government has postponed the ban on the TikTok app until December 4. RIA Novosti reported about it with reference to the statement of the press service of the social network.

It is noted that on November 25, the Committee on International Investment in the United States granted a deferral for another week, from November 27 to December 4, 2020.

Earlier, the US postponed the deadline for closing the deal to abandon ByteDance of all TikTok-related assets in the country by 15 days. According to the company's statement, the US Foreign Investment Committee has set a deadline of November 27 for reaching an agreement, extending the earlier deadline, which expired on Thursday, November 12. TikTok declined to comment on the submitted application.

On September 18, it became known that users living in the United States will not be able to install updates for TikTok or WeChat. The authorities will not force users to remove apps from their phones, but they will oblige Apple and Google to remove Chinese apps from their platforms in the country. At the same time, Apple and Google will be able to save applications on platforms operating in other countries.
