The US has pledged to “effectively counter” Russia within the framework of a new policy to be set by US President Joe Biden. This was stated by the Presidential Assistant for National Security Jake Sullivan at a White House briefing.
“We will be able to counter Russia more effectively,” he stressed. Sullivan added that within the framework of the new foreign policy, Washington will be able to counter other threats, from climate change to pandemics or the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow was preparing for a “serious conversation” with Washington about the comments of the US authorities regarding the Russian protests. She also advised the United States to “go about their own business.”
On February 4, a group of American senators submitted to the US Congress a bill on sanctions against Russia due to the situation with Alexei Navalny (founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation – FBK, included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent) .
