US not prepared for nuclear challenge from Russia and China – Congressional report

by alex

The threat from China and Russia will be especially acute in the period from 2027 to 2035

The United States must be prepared to confront the military alliance of China and Russia. Therefore, the United States needs to increase its armed forces, strengthen military alliances and expand the nuclear weapons modernization program.

The corresponding conclusion was released by the bipartisan Congressional Commission on Strategic Policy, reports The Financial Times.

“The United States and its allies must be prepared to contain and defeat both adversaries simultaneously,” the commission's report says.

Experts note that Russia and China are trying to destroy the existing international order. The Chinese and Russian threats will become especially acute in 2027-2035, so decisions must be made now to ensure the nation is prepared.

The report finds that the United States is not yet adequately prepared to confront two adversaries whose arsenals include nuclear weapons.

“The new global environment is fundamentally different from anything that has existed in the past, even during the darkest days of the Cold War,” the report says.

In addition, the authors of the document warned that we are talking about the emergence of more than one, but two nuclear adversaries at once, “each of whom has ambitions to change the international status quo by force if necessary.”

The Commission emphasized that the United States still lacks a comprehensive strategy to counter the looming threat.

< p>First of all, experts are concerned about the rapid expansion of China's nuclear arsenal, which, as the report states, is happening “on a scale and pace not seen since the US-Soviet nuclear arms race that ended in the late 1980s.”

Recall that it was previously reported that the United States has introduced trade restrictions against 42 Chinese companies cooperating with the Russian defense industry.

In addition, we previously reported that at the next this week Russian dictator Putin intends to visit China.
