< p>Intelligence indicates a very alarming and destabilizing Russian capability that the United States has recently become aware of.
Head of the House Intelligence Committee Representatives of the US Congress, Republican Mike Turner, published a message about a serious threat to national security and called on the White House to declassify all information about it.
As CNN reports, citing its own sources and an unnamed American official, this threat to US national security is linked to Russia.
Several outlets familiar with the intelligence described the intelligence information as “very sensitive.”
The publication states that one of the sources who saw the intelligence data confirmed that “this is in fact a very alarming and destabilizing” Russian capability that the United States recently became aware of.
< p>Mike Turner sent a letter to his colleagues in Congress stating that there are urgent concerns “regarding foreign military destabilization.”
In a letter to congressmen, Turner noted that the House Intelligence Committee voted on February 13 to provide lawmakers with certain information for review. Turner also asks US President Joe Biden to declassify “all information related to this threat.”
Two sources familiar with the congressional discussions told ABC News that the information concerns the Russians' desire to place nuclear weapons in space.
“This is very alarming and very delicate,” said the publication’s debater.
The point is that five days ago Russia launched a Soyuz-2-1v rocket into space with a “secret payload” for the Ministry of Defense. The Kosmos-2575 satellite is now in orbit and under the control of the Russian Aerospace Forces, security analyst Colby Badhwar said on Twitter.
Recall that Biden's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said he arranged a meeting with top lawmakers on the Homeland Security committees before Turner publicly warned of what he called a “serious threat to national security.” The meeting was scheduled for Thursday, February 15th.
