US military will be obliged to be vaccinated against coronavirus

by alex

All US military personnel will be required to be vaccinated against coronavirus by September 15. The Associated Press reports about this with reference to the Pentagon document being prepared for publication.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said he was waiting for President Joseph Biden to approve the move. “I am ready to act and sooner (…) if I understand that it will be required. To defend the nation, we need a healthy and ready-to-fight armed forces, ”the agency quoted him as saying.

It is noted that vaccination is especially relevant for the armed forces, since military personnel at military bases live at close distances to each other – and the infection can spread very quickly in their places of deployment.

In July 2020, two US military bases in the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa became hotbeds of the coronavirus. Several dozen cases of infection were recorded.
