Scientists at the National Military Medical Research Center of the US Army announced the creation of a vaccine against all strains of COVID-19, including omicron. The drug has already passed successful tests on animals, the first stage of testing ended in December 2021. The new vaccine is called SpFN and is based on spike ferritin nanoparticles. The first clinical trials involving unvaccinated subjects showed positive results, Modjarrad said.
“We decided to take a long-term view and not focus on the original SARS virus, but instead understand that viruses mutate and new variants will emerge. Our platform and approach will enable people to prepare for this, ”said Modjarrad.
On December 20, the Russian Ministry of Health allowed the Generium company to test a nasal vaccine against coronavirus. According to the manufacturer, it is injected into the patient through the nose and is tolerated much milder than intramuscular vaccination.
Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg, said that two nasal vaccines against COVID-19 based on the Sputnik V drug may appear in Russia. He specified that the Generium vaccine will have its own form in the form of liquid drops with a stabilizer.
