США могут расширить обучение украинских пилотов на F-16 — WSJ

The United States of America is considering expanding the training of Ukrainian pilots on the F-16. There are several options for this.

The Wall Street Journal writes about this.

It is noted that some Ukrainian pilots have already begun to learn English in France and Britain – countries that have never used the F-16. At the same time, the most flight training takes place in Denmark and the United States. But the training center in Denmark is closing this fall, and it is planned to begin training on F-35 fighters there.

Against this background, according to WSJ, the United States is studying the possibility of expanding training either at an air base in Arizona, where training for Ukrainian pilots is already taking place, or at another facility in the country.

Also, one of the problematic issues is the maintenance of the F-16 that Ukraine will receive. The Ukrainians who are learning this business are expected to perform most of the maintenance work domestically.

At the same time, an unnamed Pentagon official said that high-level work, such as engine maintenance, will initially have to be done abroad. Negotiations are also underway for European countries to send contractors to service the F-16.

Recall that The Wall Street Journal also wrote that the United States agreed to arm dozens of F-16 fighters that will be sent to Ukraine with domestically produced missiles and other advanced weapons.
