US launches six satellites to detect hypersonic and ballistic missiles

by alex

The United States successfully launched six satellites that will help detect ballistic and hypersonic missiles.

The Pentagon reported that the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the Space Development Agency (SDA) confirmed the launch of satellites into low Earth orbit at 17:30 (Kiev time).

The satellites were launched from Spaceport 40 at Cape Canaveral using a Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX, which builds space transport, produces Falcon launch vehicles and engines for them, as well as Dragon spacecraft.

Among them — two satellites for the MDA Hypersonics and Ballistic Tracker Space Sensor (HBTSS) and four SDA Tranche 0 (T0) Tracking Layer satellites of the Space Warfighter Proliferation Architecture (PWSA) that delivered to orbit.

The US is now conducting initial trials, testing and verification. On-orbit testing could take about two years to launch two prototype systems. MDA and SDA engineers will conduct tests to ensure the satellites operate and interact with other systems.

Threat to US National Security

Recently, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner provided Congress with intelligence information about a serious threat to US national security from Russia.

Later, foreign journalists, citing sources, reported that Russia intends to place nuclear weapons in space, which could pose a serious threat to US national security. We are talking about the possible use of these weapons against satellites.
