On Saturday, July 5, a commercial jet violated temporary airspace restrictions over Donald Trump's golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, and was intercepted by an F-16 fighter jet.
This was reported by Reuters with reference to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), Channel 24 reports. This incident was the fifth unauthorized intrusion into closed airspace in a day.
What is known about the incident
According to NORAD, the incident occurred at about 2:39 p.m. local time. The U.S. military confirmed that it was an F-16 that was scrambled.
The fighter jet performed a so-called “head-on” maneuver to attract the attention of the civilian pilot. The intruder was then safely escorted out of the area.
By the way , the White House did not comment on the incident.
NORAD has reported several similar incidents in recent weeks and is urging general aviation pilots to check all reports before taking off in the area.
