US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield announced Russia's invasion of Eastern Europe. She spoke about this in an interview with CNN, the transcript of which was published on the website of the permanent mission.

The interviewer pointed to a discrepancy between statements both in the West and in Ukraine that Moscow does not plan to be aggressive, and statements by some politicians about an imminent invasion. “I don't know if there is an inconsistency here. This is how the Russians operate. They stationed these troops on the frontier. We saw how they did it when they invaded other parts of Eastern Europe,” the diplomat said, declining to explain what episodes in history she had in mind.

On February 17, it became known that the United States did not believe in the withdrawal of Russian troops from the border with Ukraine and set a new date for the invasion on February 20. Michael Kofman, an expert on the Russian armed forces, pointed out that it is the actions of the Russian troops after the end of joint exercises with Belarus on these dates that will help to understand the true intentions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
