US deploying dual-use missile defense system in Poland

The installation of Aegis Ashore missile defense systems began at a base in Poland. About this with reference to the American Missile Defense Agency (MDA) writes RIA Novosti.

According to MDA, the system is being installed in the village of Redzikovo.

“The Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has recently reached critical milestones in the installation of the Aegis weapon system at its facility in Poland,” the statement said.

Experts previously noted that after the full deployment of an anti-missile defense system in the Polish village of Redzikovo, the American military will be able to control the European part of Russia. The Aegis Ashore tracking system will allow the Americans to observe the positions of Russian missiles, which are stationed in Tatishchevo, Teikovo and Kozelsk. These complexes carry 134 nuclear warheads – “almost half of our ground arsenal.”

At the same time, the United States suspended its participation in the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles, accusing Russia of “material violation” and giving it six months to return “to full and verifiable compliance.” On August 2, 2019, the United States withdrew from the agreement. The Russian President called the US withdrawal from the INF Treaty “a serious mistake that increases the risks of unleashing a missile arms race,” and noted that in the current conditions, “active efforts are needed to reduce the trust deficit.”
