The US and NATO stand ready to respond to major cyberattacks if necessary, but so far no such attacks have taken place. This was stated by the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, reports TASS.

“If someone attacks the United States, then, of course, we will bring this element to justice,” the US Secretary of Defense emphasized.

He also commented on the recent hacker attacks recorded in Ukraine, and admitted that he is not yet able to draw an accurate conclusion about Moscow's responsibility for what happened. “The intelligence community continues to look into what happened there,” he concluded.

On February 15, a large-scale failure in the operation of government resources and banking systems was revealed in Ukraine. Residents of the country complained about the inability to deposit or withdraw money from ATMs.

The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine reported that an “aggressor country” could be behind cyber attacks on Ukrainian banks and government resources. The United States offered Ukraine assistance in investigating the incident.
