US convinces EU and NATO of threat of Russian invasion of Ukraine – media

by alex

The US managed to convince the allies from the European Union and NATO of the threat of the Russian Federation preparing an attack on Ukraine.

This is reported by the international edition of the Financial Times, citing its own sources.

Journalists note that some capitals, in particular Berlin, were skeptical about the US warnings about the Russian attack. However, weeks of diplomatic negotiations, backed by intelligence exchanges, made a difference.

“Many allies were not sure serious things were happening,” one official told the publication.

These US efforts have stepped up support for the imposition of sanctions against Russia to contain aggression.

Disclosure of previously classified materials began in early November before the meeting of NATO ministers, at which Ukraine was actively discussed. Intelligence helped turn the conversation from whether the US warning was correct to how best to contain Russian aggression.

US President Joe Biden plans to warn Russian President Vladimir Putin against any invasion videoconference time, which will take place on Tuesday, December 7.

Allegations of the transfer of Russian troops to the Ukrainian border and plans for a further attack began to appear in Western media in early November.

In early December, American intelligence reported that Russia was planning an invasion of Ukraine across multiple fronts in early 2022. To do this, they can attract up to 175 thousand military.

Recently, the German media received and disseminated the Kremlin's plans for a possible attack.

At the first stage, the Russian Federation plans to cut off the south of Ukraine from the sea, and on the second is to weaken the military potential, cross the borders in the Luhansk and Kharkiv regions and advance to the Dnieper and Poltava.

Joe Biden announced that he was preparing a number of measures to prevent Putin from invading Ukraine.
