Current situation, however, assessed better
The consumer climate in the USA deteriorated in November. The indicator collected by the University of Michigan fell by 4.9 points compared to the previous month to 76.9 points, as the university announced on Wednesday according to a second estimate. Economists had expected a confirmation of the first survey result of 77.0 points.
The indicator was weighed down by the lower expectations of consumers. The assessment of the current situation, however, brightened. The University of Michigan indicator is a measure of the purchasing behavior of American consumers. It is based on a telephone survey of around 500 households. Questions are asked about the financial and economic assessment of the situation as well as the corresponding expectations.
