The chief US infectious disease specialist, Anthony Fauci, praised the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. He stated that the data on its effectiveness is good in an interview with the Hugh Hewitt Show.
“The data on the Russian vaccine looks pretty good, I've seen some reports,” said the infectious disease specialist, answering a question about Russian and Chinese vaccines.
He concluded that Sputnik V was “quite effective” anyway. Fauci also stressed that he could not say the same for the Chinese vaccine for sure, as he did not see enough data.
Sputnik V has become the world's first registered vaccine against a new coronavirus infection. Currently, the development of Russian scientists is among the ten best vaccine candidates in the list of the World Health Organization (WHO). It was registered in 55 countries of the world. In the medical journal The Lancet, data appeared that the results of the third phase of clinical trials of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine demonstrated 91.6% effectiveness against coronavirus.
