US First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman during a telephone conversation with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias discussed coordination between NATO allies, including in the context of “containing” Russia. State Department spokesman Ned Price said this, RIA Novosti writes.
It is noted that the parties stressed the importance of promoting solidarity and stability in Europe, including support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Sherman and Dendias also discussed the need for coordination between allies and NATO partners, in particular by preparing unprecedented economic measures to deter Moscow “from further actions and aggression.”
In recent weeks, statements have been made in Kiev and in the West about the threat of a Russian attack on Ukraine. Moscow stresses that it has no aggressive intentions. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the information about a possible invasion empty and groundless escalation of tension.
