US Ambassador Blames China for Spreading Coronavirus

by alex

The outgoing US Ambassador to China Terry Brunsted has accused China of spreading the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus around the world. Reported by CNN.

“The coronavirus could have been contained inside Wuhan, but in the end it turned into a global pandemic,” the diplomat said. He recalled that the Chinese system concealed information about what was happening and even punished doctors who reported an outbreak. According to him, it is Beijing that is to blame for the deterioration of US-Chinese relations.

Brunsted announced his retirement on 14 September. He has held this position since 2017.

In July, doctor Yuen Kwok-Jung, who diagnosed the first cases of coronavirus infection, reported that the Chinese authorities destroyed evidence and data about the first outbreak.

In March, US President Donald Trump accused Beijing of being out of time informed of the coronavirus outbreak. Later, American intelligence released a report stating that China was hiding or destroying relevant information. It was reported that doctors who spoke publicly about what was happening were silenced.

According to the Johns Hopkins University project, 90,200 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in China. The total number of people infected in the world by September 18 exceeded 30.2 million. 946 thousand patients died, more than 20.5 million were cured.
