Washington has seen Russia's proposals on security guarantees and is ready to communicate through diplomatic channels, said Assistant Secretary of State Karen Donfried. RIA Novosti reports.

“We have seen Russian proposals and comments on their security requirements. The US stands ready to act diplomatically through a variety of channels, including bilateral cooperation, the NATO-Russia Council and the OSCE, ”Donfried said.

On December 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the United States had not given a clear answer to Russia's proposals on security guarantees. “We certainly heard the words, but most of all with reference to various sources, about the readiness to conduct a dialogue, this is probably a positive factor,” he added.

On December 17, the Russian Foreign Ministry published the draft agreements of the Russian Federation with NATO and the United States on security guarantees. According to the document, the United States should not establish military bases in the territories of the former USSR countries that are not members of NATO, and also stop expanding to the East.
