US after Iranian threats left aircraft carrier Nimitz in the region
The United States, after threats from Iran, left the aircraft carrier Nimitz in the region, which was planned to be withdrawn from there, said Acting Secretary of Defense Chris Miller. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
Miller said he ordered a halt to the usual redeployment of the aircraft carrier from the region due to recent threats from Iranian leaders against US President Donald Trump and other US officials. Exactly what threats of the Iranian leadership led to such a decision, he did not specify.
“Nimitz will remain in duty in the US Central Command area of operations. No one should question the resolve of the United States of America,” Miller said.
This statement was made against the backdrop of yet another escalation between the United States and Iran and speculation in the press that the outgoing Trump administration could strike Iran before the expiration of its term in power.
Nimitz is currently the only US aircraft carrier in the Middle East. Earlier, the US media reported that it was decided to relocate it to another location.
