TV presenter Ivan Urgant put on a par with the victory of Alexander Plushenko, son of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, in the children's figure skating tournament and the Stanley Cup Russian players of the Tampa Bay Lightning National Hockey League (NHL). “Yesterday there were two high-profile and important victories on the ice. Russian hockey players in the Russian team “Tampa Bay” won the Stanley Cup. But the main victory is different: Dwarf Gnomych (nickname of Plushenko Jr. – approx. “Lenta.ru” ) won the tournament dedicated to the 50th anniversary of “Sambo-70″! ” – said the host.
Urgant jokingly pointed out the similarity of these achievements. “Both the hockey players and the Gnome Gnomych, according to tradition, did not shave before the competition!” – he noted.
Tampa defeated the Dallas Stars to win the trophy in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final on September 29. The winners included four Russians: Nikita Kucherov, Andrei Vasilevsky, Mikhail Sergachev and Alexander Volkov.
Also on September 29, Plushenko's seven-year-old son won the tournament dedicated to the anniversary of the sports school “Sambo-70”. It houses the “Khrustalny” department, where Eteri Tutberidze's group trains.
Alexander Plushenko is the son of a figure skater married to producer Yana Rudkovskaya. He is engaged in figure skating and regularly performs in ice shows, and also has several advertising contracts and earns 12 million rubles a year.
