Upper Austrians cleared 9.2 million in the lottery

With more than 9 million in the “Lotto 6 out of 45” drawing on Sunday, the highest win of the year awaited a solo six.

The millions of presents under the Christmas tree hoped for by many lottery players did not materialize, the five-fold jackpot was not cracked on Wednesday (23.12.). In today's Sunday draw, there were therefore more than 9 million euros in the prize pool – a record in this so far unfortunate year 2020.

The winning numbers of the “6 out of 45” drawing on December 27th: 16, 18, 19, 24, 28, 32; ZZ 42

As “Today” found out on the evening of the drawing, an Upper Austrian won the highest prize of the year, endowed with 9.2 million euros, with his quick tip and a solo six.

The money pot had grown rapidly in the past few days, as almost three times as many Austrians played as expected from the lotteries.

They had expected around 8 million euros, but 7.6 million tips had been sold by the acceptance deadline.

Only one of the previous five previous six-way jackpots ended with a solo six: The one in April this year, which brought a Lower Austrian 7.7 million euros. A Styrian and a Lower Austrian shared the very first six-fold jackpot, which was played exactly on Christmas Eve of 2017. There were two winners – both from Vienna – in September 2018.

The third six-way jackpot developed into the (so far only) seven-way jackpot in November 2018. And once there were three winners of a six-fold jackpot with a Burgenland, a Salzburg and a Styrian.
