Five flights were diverted to other airports until the situation was resolved.
Sweden's largest airport, located near Stockholm, temporarily stopped receiving and sending flights due to the detection of unknown drones.
This was reported by SVT.
At least four drones of various sizes and unknown types were spotted in the area of Arlanda Airport at the beginning of the day.
At 2 a.m., the airport administration decided to suspend its operations. In connection with this, five flights were redirected to land at the nearest airports located in the cities of Nykoping and Gothenburg. The airport was able to resume operations at 03:30.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident, noting that there is a suspicion of deliberate action, but details have not yet been disclosed. Police spokesman Daniel Wikdal said the investigation was ongoing and that he could not provide details for privacy reasons.
The Swedish Armed Forces confirmed that they were aware of the incident and were cooperating with the airport authorities to ensure safety and resolve the situation.
Recall that fighter jets from the German and Swedish air forces took to the skies over the Baltic to intercept a Russian Il-20M maritime patrol aircraft. The aircraft was in the airspace over the Baltic without a flight plan.
