How exactly NATO will confront authoritarian states, Secretary General Stoltenberg did not specify.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg warned about the threat of the “union authoritarian states” that collaborates against Western democracies.
This is reported by the BBC.
According to him, Russia, Iran, China and North Korea are increasingly joining forces, providing each other with practical assistance.
“China supports the Russian military economy by supplying key products for the defense industry, but instead Moscow pledges its future to Beijing,” Stoltenberg noted.
At the same time, Moscow supplies technology to Iran and North Korea in exchange for ammunition and military equipment.
In a conversation with BBC journalists, Stoltenberg admitted that NATO had to work with other countries outside its geographical community, such as Japan and South Korea, to “confront this alliance of authoritarian states that has become stronger.”
At the same time, he expressed confidence that NATO countries will decide on a long-term agreement on financing Ukraine before July, when the North Atlantic Alliance summit will take place in Washington.
“Even if we believe and hope that the war will end in the near future, we need to support Ukraine for many years to come, strengthening its defenses to deter future aggression,” said the NATO Secretary General.
He also admitted that Ukraine will eventually have to make concessions to Russia, but Kyiv must independently decide what compromises it is ready to make.
Previously, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg predicted two scenarios for the development of the war in Ukraine.
