Russia expects to mobilize about 170- 200 thousand people in order to send to Ukraine such a grouping that can achieve certain goals.
If we realistically evaluate, then Russia will actually be able to recruit 120-150 thousand people, and it will not work to mobilize the 300 thousand announced by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
The ex-Speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a participant in numerous peacekeeping operations in different countries, military expert Vladislav Voloshin told the Obozrevatel publication about this.
“Russia today needs at least another 100-120 thousand in order to at least double group that exists in Ukraine, or even more. And Kadyrov, when even before Putin’s decree, spoke about self-mobilization, he recalled that each region would mobilize about a thousand. In total complexity, they expect to have somewhere between 170-200 thousandso that such a grouping can be sent to Ukraine, which can achieve certain goals. And they are unchanged. Nobody said that the goals of Putin and Russia have changed,” the expert noted.
He added that despite Putin's statements that the main goal of the “special military operation” is “the liberation of Donbass,” the president The Russian Federation is well aware that without a change in the leadership of Ukraine there will be no “liberation”.
“And this can theoretically be achieved only if Kyiv is taken under control and power is eliminated by military means,” Voloshin said.
According to his estimates, the maximum amount of manpower that the Russian Federation will be able to gather within the announced mobilization will be 200 thousand people.
“Actually 120-150, the limit is 200. And more, in addition, Russia is not even able to clothe and feed, judging by their condition budget and economy,” the military expert explained.
According to him, given the shortfall during the spring conscription, and now they are also preparing for the autumn one, the Russian army needs even more personnel.
< p>“Therefore, various events are being held at the level of local authorities, at the level of military-patriotic clubs, in order to attract more people for military service. But this is unlikely to succeed,” Voloshin believes.
Recall, 21 September, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on partial mobilization. According to Shoigu, as part of the mobilization, it is planned to recruit 300 thousand people into the army.
