UN warned of irreversible catastrophe

The report of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says that due to the rapid increase in global warming, the Earth will overcome the critical temperature threshold as early as 2030. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to scientists, in 2019, the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere was the highest in the last two million years. Due to the emission of greenhouse gases in the past 50 years, the temperature on the planet has been actively increasing.

“The evidence is irrefutable: greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels are choking our planet and putting billions of people at risk,” said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

According to experts, climatic changes will lead to the fact that there will be more rainfalls, floods on the Earth, many regions will be affected by drought, and sea level will rise in coastal areas.

In addition, experts drew attention to the fact that in the past few weeks, extreme weather events have occurred in the world: large floods occurred in Europe, China and India, and forest fires broke out in the USA, Canada, Greece and Turkey.
