UN Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed a crisis coordinator from the organization for Ukraine in connection with the new invasion of the Russian Federation.
“Secretary General António Guterres announced the appointment of Amin Awad as UN Crisis Coordinator in Ukraine,” Guterres said in a statement posted on Twitter.
It should be noted that earlier Mohamed Amin Awad Abubakir served as the head of the Middle East Bureau, as well as the regional coordinator for refugees.
Recall that earlier Moscow blocked a draft UN resolution condemning Russia's attack on Ukraine.
Thus, Russia in the UN Security Council vetoed the draft resolution.
