UN Received Not Received Notification Of Russian Employee Declared Persona Non Grata

The official representative of the UN Secretary General, Stefan Dujarrick, reacted to the announcement of a Russian employee of the UN mission in Kosovo persona non grata. TASS reports.

According to him, no official notification has been received from the Kosovo authorities regarding this announcement to the Mission. At the same time, Dujarrik stressed that the “persona non grata” status is not applicable to UN staff.

The UN Mission in Kosovo and Metohija and the UN Headquarters are taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the employee in question and are in contact with interested authorities on this issue, “he added.

The fact that the Russian has been declared persona non grata was previously announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Donika Gervala. According to her, in this way Kosovo responds to “any destabilizing efforts of the Russian Federation in the region.”

The Russian Embassy in Serbia said that the decision of the Kosovo authorities to expel a Russian employee of the UN mission, declaring him persona non grata, was provocative and undertaken in order to “curry favor with Western mentors.”
