Ukrainian tennis player Sergei Stakhovsky spoke about the departure of local footballers Anatoly Tymoshchuk and Yaroslav Rakitsky to work in Russia. His words are quoted by Tribuna.com
The athlete said that he talked with Tymoshchuk when, in 2013, he decided to return to Zenit St. Petersburg. “He understood what he was doing. This is a one way road. I still communicate with him, he knows that the road to Ukraine is closed for him, ”he said. Stakhovsky also added that for Rakitsky, the transition to blue-white-blue turned out to be a rejection of the Ukrainian national team.
Tymoshchuk played for Zenit from 2007 to 2009, as well as from 2013 to 2015. At the moment, he works as an assistant to the head coach of the team, Sergei Semak. Together with the blue-white-blue, the footballer twice became the champion of Russia and won the UEFA Cup.
Rakitskiy signed a contract with Zenit in January 2019. After that, some of the fans hounded him for moving to Russia, and he himself was forced to leave the Ukrainian national team for political reasons.
