The polar explorers from the Akademik Vernadsky station published a joking message on the social network.
A penguin colony that has settled near the Ukrainian Akademik Vernadsky station in Antarctica has become so large that scientists have to dig ditches in the snow so that the penguins cannot surround it.
A video with such a message was published by the system administrator of the 27th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition Volodymyr Khomko.
On the published footage, the polar explorer points to a large concentration of penguins near the station and demonstrates a ditch three meters deep.
“Of course, this is a joke, and the polar explorers are not going to defend themselves from the invasion of penguins,” the expedition members said in a message.
Why they dug a ditch and whether the penguin population near our station has really grown significantly in recent years, they promise to tell later.
“Don't worry yet: in Antarctica, the most peaceful continent on the planet, everything is calm. What we wish for all of Ukraine on these holidays,” the Ukrainian polar explorers summed up.
Recall that earlier on the occasion of St. Valentine's Day, who is considered the patron saint of lovers, Ukrainian polar explorers of the Antarctic station “Akademik Vernadsky” published touching photos of penguins during the mating season.
