A Ukrainian serviceman was killed in Donbass. This was announced on Thursday, April 8, by the headquarters of the Joint Forces Operation, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
According to the press center of the headquarters, since the beginning of the day, the enemy violated the ceasefire five times, shelling the positions of the Ukrainian troops and civilian infrastructure.
“Not far from the settlements of Peski and Vodyanoe, on the Azov Sea, the enemy opened fire from a 122-caliber artillery mount, 82-caliber mortars and small arms. As a result of enemy fire, a soldier from the Joint Forces received injuries incompatible with life, ”added the Joint Forces headquarters.
In turn, the authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said that on the morning of April 8, Ukrainian troops fired heavy mortars at the vicinity of the village of Veseloe, north of Donetsk, firing 12 mines with a caliber of 120 millimeters. There is no information about casualties and destructions.
The situation on the contact line in Donbass has escalated in recent weeks. Ukraine accuses Russia of pulling troops to the border.
