The first visas, which provided three-year permission to stay in the UK under programs such as Homes for Ukraine, Ukraine Family Scheme and Ukraine Extension Scheme, expire in March 2025.
However, the UK Home Office has advised that those on one of the visa schemes will now be able to apply to stay until September 2026 and have equal rights to access work, benefits, health care and education.< /p>
“This new visa extension scheme gives Ukrainians in the UK confidence in their future as this war continues, and we will continue to provide refuge for those fleeing the conflict,” British Borders Minister Tom Pursglove said.< /p>

Director of the EU Asylum Agency (EUAA) Nina Gregory said that there are currently more than 4.1 million Ukrainian asylum seekers in European countries.

The most refugees from Ukraine were registered in Germany, where at the beginning of October 2023 there were about 1.17 million Ukrainians. In second place is Poland, where 957 thousand Ukrainians are registered.
