A refugee attempted to cross the English Channel in a kayak, but was rescued by the French.
A Ukrainian refugee, apparently hiding from British police, attempted to cross the English Channel in a kayak to reach France.
The Telegraph writes about this.
At first, the fugitive in a kayak was noticed by a passerby on the southern coast of England, and lifeboats were sent out to search for him, but they failed to find him. When the refugee reached the middle of the English Channel, he was picked up by the research vessel Marshall Art, whose crew noticed him rowing towards their boat.
At that time, the vessel was in French waters, so the Ukrainian was taken to Calais, where local authorities took care of him.
The Telegraph newspaper published a conversation between the Marshall Art and the British and French coast guards, who were trying to clarify the situation. One of the Marshall Art crew contacted the coastguard in Dover to ask if they knew anything about kayakers in the area. The crew reported that they had spotted a kayaker about 300-400 meters from their vessel, adding that they were quite far out in the middle of the English Channel, doubting that he should be there in such weather conditions. The coastguard responded that they were not aware of such activity and asked if there were any signs of distress.
Recall that since the start of the full-scale invasion of Transcarpathia, 16 drowning people have already been found in the Tisza River on sections of the border with Romania and Hungary. Rescuers recently pulled the body of a man in a wetsuit from the water, apparently a evader who was attempting to illegally cross into Romania.
