On Friday, March 18, the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber in the Kiev region.
This was announced by the head of the Kiev regional military administration Alexander Pavlyuk.
An enemy fighter was shot down in the Buchansk region. Air defense units of the Ground Forces of Ukraine used the Stinger portable anti-aircraft missile system.
– We close the sky over the Kiev region with our own forces! At about 8.15, in the Buchansk region, air defense units of the Ground Forces of Ukraine shot down an enemy Su-34 fighter-bomber! The plane was shot down using the Stinger MANPADS,” Pavlyuk noted.
According to his information, after the destruction of the fighter, no ejection of the Russian crew was noticed. The plane crashed on the territory temporarily occupied by enemy troops.
It should be noted that over the past day, March 17, the air defense forces of Ukraine hit at least 14 enemy air targets: 7 aircraft; 1 helicopter; 3 drones; 3 cruise missiles.
In particular, Ukrainian fighters conducted air battles in the sky, as a result of which they hit the enemy fighter and attack aircraft.
In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian troops have lost about 14,200 personnel, 450 tanks, 1,448 armored fighting vehicles, 205 artillery systems, 72 multiple launch rocket systems and other equipment.
