In Ukraine, the mayor of the city of Konotop, Alexander Lugovoi, died of complications caused by the coronavirus. This was announced by the deputy Igor Molotok, reports kp.ua.
“The newly elected mayor of Konotop, Alexander Lugovoi, has passed away. He won the elections and fought desperately for his life with an insidious disease, ”said the deputy.
Lugovoi fell ill even before the elections. For mayor of Konotop, he ran as a self-nominated candidate and won 37 percent of the vote. Prior to his election, he worked in local businesses and government bodies.
Earlier it was reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky, the head of his office Andriy Yermak, and Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmitry Razumkov were infected with the coronavirus in Ukraine.
According to the latest data, since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 545 thousand infected have been identified in the republic. Died 9 697 infected, recovered over 244 thousand patients.
