Marine units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) abandoned their positions in the area of two settlements in the Donbass and retreated. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the official representative of the People's Militia of the DPR Eduard Basurin.
According to him, we are talking about military personnel up to a battalion. “Wishing to save their lives, they withdrew from their positions in the area of Gnutovo and Talakovka,” Basurin said. Other details of the retreat have not yet been given.
Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian military opened fire on Gorlovka from RPGs and heavy machine guns. Shells began to fall on the city at about three in the morning. There have been no reports of casualties or deaths so far.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation in the Donbass. His press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that its goal is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.
