On Wednesday, February 9, Ukrainian lugers at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing completed the race with a record result for Ukraine over the past 16 years.
In particular, the duo of Igor Stakhiv and Andrey Lisetsky finished 15th in the men's doubles competition.
At the same time, during the first race, they set a personal record and covered the distance in less than a minute.
For 22-year-old Igor Stakhiv, this race was the debut at the adult Olympic Games. He stressed that this is a completely different level.
– The best lugers in the world have gathered in Beijing, and it's cool that we are among them. We are satisfied with the result. Our main goal was to cope with emotions and drive two clean races. What we did, even more – managed to leave from one minute in the first descent, which was not possible in training. That is, this is our personal record, – the luger was quoted at the NOC.
It should be noted that at the Youth Olympic Games in 2016, Stakhiv and his partner took 7th place for Ukraine.
