“Ukrainian grain will not flow to Poland”: the Polish minister announced a mandatory embargo

by alex

The Polish government is ready to announce an indefinite ban on the import of grain from Ukraine.

At midnight on Friday, September 15, the Polish government will publish its own decision to ban the import of Ukrainian grain if the European Commission does not make such a decision by the end of the day.

About this In an interview with the Polish agency PAP, Polish Minister of Development and Technology Waldemar Buda said.

“If the European Commission does not extend the embargo by midnight, then I will sign an order that will extend the current embargo,” the Polish minister assured.

According to him, the Polish government is sending a clear signal to Polish farmers that “despite what decision the European Commission makes, the embargo will remain, Ukrainian grain will not flow to Poland.” Waldemar Buda clarified that the ban from Poland will be indefinite.

The Minister believes that the grain matter should not negatively affect Polish-Ukrainian relations.

As is known, in May 2023 the European Commission at the insistence of Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania, banned the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine to these countries.

The ban was extended until September 15, 2023, but the countries mentioned want to extend the ban on imports until the end of the year and expand it to some other goods. At the same time, the transit of Ukrainian grain through these countries is allowed.

Recall that on September 14, the Bulgarian parliament voted to lift the ban on grain imports from Ukraine dated September 15.
