Ukrainian weightlifter Maria Gangur won a gold medal at the world weightlifting championship among men and women, which takes place in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
The Ukrainian athlete competed in the weight category up to 59 kg. She won the gold medal in the snatch exercise, having conquered the weight of 101 kg.
Gangur made three clean attempts and showed a result that her rivals could not repeat.
Silver award – athlete Kuo Xing Zhun (Taiwan), and the bronze was won by the representative of Russia Olga Cho.
At the same time, Maria Gangur stopped one step away from the podium in total (snatch and clean and jerk), finishing fourth with a score of 215 kg.
It should be noted that this is the third medal for the Ukrainian team at the World Weightlifting Championship. Earlier, Ukrainian Svetlana Samulyak, competing in the weight category up to 55 kg, won bronze in the combined event (201 kg) and a silver medal in the snatch (91 kg).
The world championship among men and women in Tashkent will last up to 17 December. The Ukrainian national team is represented by eight athletes.
