The upper part of this structure is “dressed” in artificial branches, and the lower part has “decorations” protesters.
After the city authorities in Tbilisi tried to install a New Year's tree next to the parliament building to prevent protesters from gathering in the square, this structure turned into a new symbol of the protests – just like Yanukovych's “Yolka” on the Ukrainian Euromaidan. As a confirmation of this continuity, the protesters decorated it with the Ukrainian flag.
Sova reports on how the New Year tree design is being used in the protest against the government's refusal to support European integration in the capital of Georgia.
Next to the Ukrainian flag, the protesters hung their Georgian flag, as well as the flags of the European Union and the United States.
The New Year tree on Rustaveli Avenue began to be installed on Sunday night, when there were no protesters near the parliament. However, it was not possible to complete this work.
The protesters gathered again and brought photos of beaten protesters and journalists to the Georgian “Yolka” and began pasting them on it.
Now the upper part of this structure is “dressed” in artificial branches, and the lower part has “decorations” of the protesters.
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said that the New Year tree will definitely be brought into proper condition.
Protests in the capital of Georgia continue.
Recall that the Georgian authorities are trying to intimidate citizens with the so-called “Ukrainian scenario”. The country's Prime Minister from the pro-Russian Georgian Dream party, Irakli Kobakhidze, calls what is happening in Tbilisi “an attempt to organize a Maidan.”
