A Ukrainian was suspected of stealing from a clothing store, after which he was taken to the store's back room, where he was brutally beaten.

On Thursday, January 30, a homeless citizen of Ukraine was brutally beaten in the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava. He died in hospital the following day from his injuries.

According to local media, the incident occurred near the Nivy shopping center.

The Ukrainian was suspected of stealing from the New Yorker clothing store, after which he was taken to the store's back room. CCTV footage showed that the man was brutally beaten there.

The victim was hospitalized with severe head and body injuries, but could not be saved – he died in the hospital on January 31. Doctors noted that the nature of the injuries may indicate an attack with a weapon.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga responded to the death of a Ukrainian citizen in the capital of Slovakia. He stated that ethnic hatred cannot be ruled out as one of the possible causes of the crime.

“I am shocked by the tragic death of a Ukrainian citizen in Bratislava. We cannot rule out ethnic hatred as one of the causes of this crime,” Sybiga emphasized.

According to him, on his instructions, the Ukrainian embassy has already established contact with the Slovak police and the ombudsman. The Ukrainian side demands an objective investigation and punishment of the perpetrators.

We recall that earlier in Poland, Ukrainians were attacked. The brutal attack took place in the middle of the night in Warsaw. Two young men from Ukraine received serious stab wounds. The police are shrugging their shoulders, moreover, they are probably hinting at revenge.
