Ukraine's NATO membership is not subject to negotiations – Estonian President

by alex

The country's movement towards full membership in NATO is irreversible.

Ukraine will become a member of NATO in the future NATO and this issue is not subject to negotiations.

Estonian President Alar Karis stated this at a press conference after a meeting with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, writes ERR.

He noted that the country’s movement towards full membership in NATO is irreversible.

The President of Estonia noted that the most important topics of the upcoming NATO summit in Washington will be effective and long-term support for Ukraine during and after the war.

“The alliance must send a strong message that NATO will support Ukraine as long as necessary. Ukraine's membership in NATO is not a subject of discussion, the process of gaining membership is irreversible,” said Karis.

In addition, he warned against a deceptive “truce” with Russia, which would force Ukraine to make concessions.

“If you do not respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, this will only lead to new and worse wars in the future. Russia and other aggressors will feel more confident as a result,” the politician said.

He added that the only correct path is unconditional and full support for Ukraine.

Recall that it was previously reported that NATO and South Korea are preparing a common project to help Ukraine.

In addition, we previously reported that some NATO countries do not want to see Ukraine in the Alliance.
